PrepTempo writes original practice questions and explains every answer choice, right and wrong. This page covers where that came from and how we work.
PrepTempo started while our founder was studying for his own securities licensing exam, the Series 63. He kept running into practice questions that came with an answer key and nothing else. He would miss a question, check the key, and still not know why.
An answer key tells you what you missed. An explanation teaches you why. He wanted the why, so he built the product around it. On PrepTempo, every answer choice gets an explanation: why the right one is right, and why each wrong one is tempting but wrong.
PrepTempo launched in 2026 and is based in Charleston, South Carolina. The Series 65, SIE, Series 63, Series 66, Series 7, and Life & Health exams are live now, each with a full-length diagnostic and a study-by-chapter course. The Series 63, where this whole thing started, has the deepest chapter coverage so far.

How a question gets published
Every PrepTempo question is original, and every one takes the same path from source material to your screen.
Written from the source
Each question is written from the officially published content outline for its exam and from public primary sources, meaning statutes and regulator publications.
Explained choice by choice
We write an explanation for every answer choice: why the correct answer is correct, and why each wrong answer is tempting but wrong.
Solved blind
Before we publish a question, someone solves it independently. The solver never sees our answer key, so a bad question can't hide behind its own answer key.
Checked against the source
Each question is fact-checked against primary-source citations before it can move on.
Reviewed by a human
Finally, a human reviews the question. No question goes live without passing every step.
Three things we will never do
We never reproduce actual exam content
Every question is original and written from public sources. Nothing here is copied from a real exam, and nothing ever will be.
We never invent testimonials or reviews
The only user feedback we publish is feedback that real users explicitly gave us permission to publish.
We never make pass-rate claims
You won't see pass rates or guaranteed-to-pass promises on this site. We'd rather let a diagnostic speak for itself.
