Written exam is the NIC National Esthetics Theory examination administered by Prov, Inc.; updated NIC Esthetics theory exams effective January 1, 2026. Passing score 75. Unusual: the hands-on practical exam was eliminated effective December 7, 2020 and replaced with a 'proficiency examination' administered by the school or apprenticeship instructor at the conclusion of training. Lowest hour requirement of any licensing state (350). Board of Barbers and Hairdressers under the Division of Corporations, Business and Professional Licensing.
