Exam details & notes
Different title confirmed: Florida registers 'Facial Specialists' rather than licensing estheticians by exam. Unusual: NO state written or practical exam — complete a 220-hour facial specialty program at a Florida cosmetology school plus a board-approved 4-hour HIV/AIDS course, submit the DBPR application and fees, and the registration is issued. The 'Full Specialist' registration (facials + nails) requires 400 hours (220 facial + 180 nail), also with no exam. Contrast: Florida cosmetologists (1,200 hours) must pass a two-part examination. Regulated by the Florida Board of Cosmetology under DBPR.
