Exam details & notes
Three components: NIC written theory, a separate ND state law (Laws, Rules & Regulations) written exam, and the NIC practical. Written exams are CBT via Prov at test centers or remote online proctoring. NIC esthetics theory: 110 questions (100 scored), 90 minutes, 75% passing (per Prov CIB and prep sources). Board site confirms the Prov registration and the three-exam requirement; 600 hours corroborated by ND Century Code ch. 43-11 secondary summaries rather than a board page, hence not marked on the board exam page itself.
Preparing for the North Dakota exam
PrepTempo's Esthetician course covers the NIC national theory core — infection control, skin sciences, skin analysis, and treatments. That's exactly what North Dakota's NIC exam tests. Study your North Dakota law-and-rules section from the board on top of the core.
