Current LSAT Structure: LR, RC, and the End of Logic Games
For test-day planning, anchor yourself in the post-2024 format: the scored multiple-choice exam centers on Logical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension, and the former Analytical Reasoning section commonly known as Logic Games is no longer part of the test. That change concentrates preparation on argument analysis, formal inference, and dense passage work rather than on game setups and sequencing diagrams. In practice, you should expect multiple choice sections that draw heavily on the skills in Chapters 1–5 for LR and Chapter 6 for RC, plus unscored material that may appear as an experimental section whose type you cannot reliably identify while testing. Because Games are gone, time once spent mastering grouping and sequencing templates should be reallocated to LR volume, RC mapping, and full-section endurance. Do not rely on older study plans that still allocate a large share of hours to Games; those plans mis-weight the current exam. At the same time, older PrepTests remain valuable for LR and RC content even when they also contain a Games section — simply skip or ignore the Games section when using those tests for current-format practice, and do not let discontinued question types inflate or deflate your sense of readiness. Your mental model of the exam should be: extract structure from short arguments, force valid inferences, name flaws and methods, and navigate long passages under a fixed clock. Everything in your weekly schedule should map onto one of those demands.

Track in practice how often second-pass saves convert to correct answers; if they rarely do, your first-pass skip threshold may be too aggressive or your elimination habits too weak. Build timing awareness with section-level practice, not only untimed accuracy sets, so the skip decision becomes automatic rather than emotional under pressure.
Score Bands, Process Goals, and the 120–180 Mindset

Use official PrepTests as exams: same timing, minimal interruptions, and a full review afterward that logs every miss by type, error cause, and whether the item was rushed, misread, or conceptually unclear. Do not burn an entire PrepTest library on untimed casual work; reserve most full tests for periodic benchmarks. Between benchmarks, use PrepTempo-style targeted drills — assumption sets, strengthen/weaken ranking sets, flaw catalog matching, inference notation chains, parallel skeleton drills, and RC mapping drills from earlier chapters — to attack the exact tags your last PrepTest review produced. After each full test, write a one-page action plan with only two or three priorities for the next cycle; vague plans to 'do more LR' change little. When drilling, insist on the same notations you will use on test day (gap notes, arrow chains, role tags) so transfer is automatic. Track trends across three PrepTests rather than overreacting to a single sitting. This pairing keeps official material scarce and diagnostic while drills provide the high-volume reps that actually install skills. Educational use of practice materials should always respect that released tests are practice instruments, not sources of 'real' future scores or confidential content.

Fatigue plateaus show up as sharp drops in the final section of a full test; address them with full-length practice, sleep hygiene, and mid-test reset routines rather than with new strategy books. Content-satisfaction plateaus occur when scores stop moving because the remaining misses are concentration and process errors, not knowledge gaps; shift metrics from 'hours studied' to 'clean timed sections per week.' If motivation drops, shrink the plan to a non-negotiable minimum (for example, one drill set and one review log daily) to preserve identity as someone who shows up. Finally, beware false plateaus caused by inconsistent timing conditions or mixing discontinued Games practice into current-format scoring — standardize conditions so the trend line is real. Plateaus end when the feedback loop gets more specific, not when effort merely gets louder.
